Rafting Río de las Vueltas

It is a rafting experience that takes place in the Vueltas River. This river belongs to the Santa Cruz river basin. An important portion of the waters of the Rio de las Vueltas is of glacial origin, partly coming from the melting of the glaciers in the northern zone of the PNLG. It originates in Lago del Desierto, at an altitude of 506 meters above sea level, and flows into Lago Viedma at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. The experience starts at the operating base of Comarka El Chalten, where the guides will receive the passengers and provide them with the equipment (suit, jacket, helmet, life jacket, boots, mittens and paddle). Once dressed, they will travel with the guides in a van for 5 minutes to the river entrance area, where they will be given a technical and safety talk about the activity. The first section of the river is 6 km of calm and meandering waters, an opportunity to contemplate the Cerro Fitz Roy and its satellite needles, the Andean forest, the steppe and eventually native fauna and birdlife, it is the ideal time to make contact with the raft and practice paddling techniques and safety explained. The second part of the trip advances over the canyon area. After the initial rapid called “Portage”, we will find a succession of rapids from class III to III + for 10 km. This is the moment of adventure and adrenaline. Once the descent is finished, a van will be waiting for you to return to the base where you will change and enjoy a snack and a drink to recover energy.
